Our Stories

Levin Intermediate School is a vibrant center of learning where education extends beyond the classroom through a diverse array of events and activities. From cultural celebrations to STEM workshops, our students engage in experiences that foster creativity, community involvement, and personal growth.

Students from 11-14 years are emerging from childhood into the next stage of their development. At Levin Intermediate School teachers understand the educational needs of this group and have developed programmes which respond to students in the middle years. We offer programmes and activities that interest and engage this age-group, we look for balance between teacher-directed and student-directed learning and we encourage collaboration and co-operation in learning.

Showquest 2024 - 2nd Place National Final

Congratulations to ALL our ShowQuest students. Second place overall in New Zealand!. What a reward for all your dedicated time and effort. It was amazing to see you all shine and win the Manawatu regional competition & to see your performance go on and attain this national achievement... is simply outstanding! Otumoetai Intermediate in the Bay of Plenty placed first ahead of Levin Intermediate.
A special mention to Whaea Sara for leading our students in this journey as well as Mr Miller, Mrs Paroli and Whaea Nicola for their skills and expertise with costumes and props.

AIMS Games

The Zespri AIMS Games is Australasia’s largest junior sporting event, held annually in Tauranga Moana. Celebrating diversity, the Games provides an opportunity for adolescents from all demographics and education contexts to compete in sporting competitions, to meet others from outside their normal peer group, and to learn and build on their social interaction skills. The Zespri AIMS Games is highly regarded by national education and sporting organisations and is considered a leader in its area.

Levin Intermediate proudly competes at the AIMS Games in Tauranga each year. Taking place in the first week of September. LIS takes a range of students from various sporting codes to compete against the best from across the Pacific. We select teams based off of student interest and ability. Over the past few years we have taken; Netball, Rugby Sevens, Basketball (5 Aside), Basketball (3x3), Swimming, Badminton, Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Indoor Bowls and Rip Rugby.

Rainbow Group LIS

Welcome to Levin Intermediate School, where we prioritise the wellbeing and inclusivity of every single one of our students, including those in the LGBTQIA+ and takatāpui communities. At our school, we believe that everyone deserves to feel valued and supported, which is why we have established our Rainbow Group.

Are you ready to experience the magic of Showquest? Levin Intermediate School is excited to offer our students the opportunity to participate in this amazing event, which combines the elements of Art, Music, Dance, Drama, Culture, and Technology to create a unique and unforgettable stage-based performance.

Each year Levin Intermediate School hosts a group of students from Dokkyo Saitama Junior High School, Tokyo, Japan - boys and girls visit, with two teachers accompanying them. They are all 14 & 15 years old. All students at Levin Intermediate are welcome to apply to host.
