Te Papa Trip

On the 8th of May the Waitarere team travelled to Wellington to see the new war exhibit museum and Te Papa’s war exhibition. The magnificent realistic statues were totally petrifying, but amazing to see. All of Waitarere team had to go to school at 7:45 am to catch the buses at 8:15 and get into groups. The two hour ride felt like two years but in the end itwas all worth it. We were lucky tosee a parade happen at the tomb of the unknown warrior outside of the museum.   The Te Papa visit was really full but luckily we could go in the front of the line once we were ready, it took us a while till we were ready but once our group was in it was worth the wait. The first thing you see is this massive realistic man holding a pistol in his left hand as the other one was covered with blood. There were about 5 statues at Te Papa. There was a statue at the end where you made poppies and you would throw them at him. The sad bit was when the mother of the son that is the statue gets a letter saying “KILLED RETURN TO SENDER”.
